Storth Road
The Brief
a very nice propety with a new conservatory backed directly on to
the drive and parking area. the only garden they had was a small
derelict piece of land behind the garage
The Solution
It was decided to half the parking area to allow for a reasonable
sized garden, which then linked to the area behind the garage. The two
areas are quite different. The first combines two large stone circles
surrounded by stone sets - the first forms the main seating area and
the second, an acess point for the other parts of the garden. In this
area there is a circular raised planter built from limestone, which is in
perfect keeping with the surrounding natural stone. These circles are linked to
the rear garden with a meandering gravel path.
The rear garden is obscured from view by a pagola which has an enormous wisteria growing over it - this gives a very private feel, almost like a secret garden. As you come around this corner, a teak bench awaits, placed to face the garden's main feature, an ornate limestone wall in which a wonderful lions head projects water into a commissioned lead troph.
The garden has had many exterior lights throughout combining recessed paving lights, walled down lighters and spot lights in the beds. At night the lights entice you to all the different parts of the garden.
