Links Gate

The Brief
A very grand Victorian property was let down by an uninspiring garden. It needed something with elegance and class to complement the house.

The Solution
Almost all of the existing garden was removed so that the site could be levelled. This was important because of the symmetry of the design. The main aspect of the garden was a large lawn, within which is a partially sunken pool. The portion above ground was made from natural Travertine stone from Italy. The is a very smooth white limestone, and creates an impressive central feature.

Surrounding the pool are six box balls, leading to a rose arbour. The perspective of the garden has been intentionally distorted to make the garden appear longer.

Running down the side of the lawn is an ornate pergola. Specially designed finials were commissioned to give an impressive finish.

At night the garden takes on another dimension with the soft lighting illuminating all the main features bringing a sense of drama and romance to the garden.
